The Gateway

Gateway to Northern Michigan, located on M-115 at the top of the hill Frankfort.  Built in 1925 as a memorial to car ferries, this gateway is made of 18 foot high cobblestone pillars that resemble lighthouses.

Upper Platte River Canoeing

In Northern Michigan, the Upper Platt River flows around the town of Honor.  The upper Portion of the river is better suited for more experienced canoeists; the lower portion is slower-paced for family-style canoeing and flows through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore to Lake Michigan.

4.2 mile trail connecting the beaches of Elberta and Frankfort.  The trail also connects to the Betsie Valley Trail which goes from Frankfort-Elberta through Beulah to Thompsonville
(22 miles).

Interlochen Center for the Arts

Northern Michigan is known for its Interlochen Center for the Arts is home to the Interlochen Arts Festival, an  annual presentation of more than 750 student, faculty and guest artist events.  Corsen Auditiorium , Interlochen's premier indoor venue, accommodates up to 1,000 people for music, theater and dance  productions.  Interlochen Center for the Arts is located 16 miles southwest of Traverse City.

Mineral Springs Park
